3. He/She’s going to start dictating real estate
law to you and saying “that would be illegal,”
or “a legal way to do this would be to…” Real
estate agents are NOT LAWYERS!! They
have absolutely no business telling you what
the law says or doesn’t say. They want to
make themselves out to be more important
than they are. Be weary when they start
telling you what it or isn’t legal.

If you want, for your own personal
amusement, if you encounter an agent that
starts dictating what the law says; just say
something like “Wow, are you a lawyer?”
He/She’ll rebound by saying something like
“No, but if you want to, you should get legal
advice.”

He/she just wants the listing.

Okay, perhaps I’m being long-winded; I just wanted
to get all that out of the way. The BIG problem with
hiring an agent to sell your house is that there’s a BUILT
IN CONFLICT OF INTEREST. Let me explain…

The agent doesn’t get paid by you (the seller), by
the buyer, by the agency he works for, or even by his
broker. He gets paid by the SALE OF YOUR PROPERTY.
